Nevertheless, Huck feels impressed by Tom’s willingness to risk it all, which suggests a moral maturity that Tom did not possess at the beginning of the book. He therefore has trouble understanding why Tom would endanger his reputation and respectability to help an escaped slave. Huck is the boy every boy envies, but all the parents hate. Huck sees Tom as a well-bred, educated, and civilized boy. In addition, kids will enjoy it (which is great for Disney, as they are the target audience). On his many adventures, he developed a good relationship with another boy named Huckleberry Finn. It's short and never dull so doesn't feel like a total waste of time. If you've never read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer or watched any other version of the novel, it's a quick and painless introduction to the book. Tom Sawyer has nothing but pranks and mischief on his mind but luckily his fearless friend Huck Finn loves adventure as much as he does. It's a very harmless, accessible version of the book.

Throw in some pretty hammy acting all round and it appears to not have much going for it. Jim, a runaway slave whom Huck befriends, is another dominant force in Hucks life. At various times in the novel, Huck mentions that Tom would put more 'style' in Jim and his adventure.

Produced by Disney it's clearly made for kids, with dumbed-down plot development and sub-plots and performances by the leads that are aimed strictly at children. In Huckleberry Finn, its revealed that Huck also considers Tom to be his best friend. Based on Mark Twain's famous novel, this adaptation is hardly definitive.
